Aluminum Can Drive
August 17th I volunteered at Puget Sound Fiber to help with the aluminum can drive.
A special price was paid above the current market prices to everyone bringing their cans in on this day. It was so busy! The vehicles were lined up early. We opened at 8:00am and worked straight through until 4:00pm. Over 10,000 pounds of aluminum cans were collected. I was the traffic control person and the "scale" girl. I would figure out the total weight after the tare was deducted for the cans being weighed.
Many charity groups collect their cans all year just for this one day! Huge loads were brought in. It is an easy way to earn money and of course it is always good to recycle!
