Jilladair is my official makeup artist/stylist for the Mrs. Washington pageant and the Mrs. America pageant!! Her makeup line is wonderful and it is my makeup of choice! One day while sitting on set for a commercial shoot at 3:00 AM Jilladair began to read the ingredients off one of her favorite lip glosses. Bothered by the fact that she only knew what the first two ingredients were she decided to find out. Since she had a few minutes to spare she used her phone to go online and do a little research! As she read she thought "This can't be right. Maybe I'm just tired. It is 3:00 AM after all!" But as she dug deeper the ingredients revealed that the lip gloss was full of animal fat and animal parts that made her stomach turn.
Deeply disturbed by this information she decided to take it a few steps further. Over the next two weeks she called makeup manufacturers all over the world. The more research she did the more disturbed she got. "What happens to women who are vegetarians?" she thought "How much of this stuff do we ingest a year?" When she found out that the average woman ingests 6-8 lbs of lip gloss per year she knew she had to do something immediately. This is how Jilladair Cosmetics was born.
Being a makeup artist, Jilladair couldn't just stop with lip gloss. While working with the chemists and product developers she felt like a kid in a candy store! She knew that this was what she was born to do. It has taken nearly two years to develop her line of color cosmetics. She and her team are very devoted to creating new products for women that will not end up in their junk drawers or ever be a waste of their hard earned money.
It has always been very important to Jilladair for her to use her skills to teach women how to look in ways they never thought possible for themselves. Looks they never thought they could achieve or pull off. Like, the elusive smokey eye or the natural beachy look or even the classic red lip. She always says that makeup is so important that we should have learned how to use it in sixth grade. "We should have been taught how to make a large nose smaller, small eyes and lips look bigger and how to take 10 pounds off our faces with contouring. Can you imagine all of the pain that was caused by our own insecurities and from teasing that could have been avoided?"
It's so important for women to realize that they are not "stuck" with the face they were born with. Once taught how to apply makeup properly, some simple color rules and how to achieve certain looks women become their own makeup artists ... which is how it should be.

Jilladair's favorite thing to do is to get to know her new clients on the phone and through email while never seeing a photo of them. This way she gets to know who they truly are on the inside. Then she asks them to come to her studio without any makeup on. It is then that she creates on the outside what matches their inside. The most "perfect" moments in her career are when she turns the chair toward the mirror and her clients see the beauty they have created internally for all the world to see.
