Getting ready for Mrs. America

Wow things are moving very fast! I have spent this past week gathering all my paperwork for Mrs. America. I sent my packet off to them on Friday!! All the reservations have been arranged. Now I am working on packing! Two weeks requires quite a bit of clothes to bring.

Last night our Band DNR played a benefit concert for Homeless Backpacks. It was very fun and they raised over 1,800 for this wonderful organization. Here is a little more information about them:

Homeless Backpacks, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 corporation dedicated to ending homelessness, primarily by supporting at risk children, providing them with food and supplies, allowing them to focus on their education.

We currently provide food and support to nearly one hundred school children in Thurston County. We are comprised of a six member all-volunteer board of directors and many community volunteers.

100% of your tax deductible contributions goes directly to help the homeless in our community. We partner with our local government, the school system, other non-profit organizations, our faith based community and the private sector to secure the survival needs these children so deserve.
